This finder uses the IPF Technical Rulebook effective 1 March 2026. Other federations may use different classes. Confirm the category shown on your competition entry before making plans around bodyweight.

The number is an upper boundary.

A 72 kg lifter in the men's category sits in the 74 kg class. A bodyweight above 74 kg moves into the 83 kg class.

Use the result as a starting point.

Your current class is not automatically the class you should chase. Bodyweight, training quality, event timing and how close you are to a boundary all matter.

British Powerlifting advises lifters near a boundary to speak with their coach or club about moving up or down. For a first competition, the simpler job is usually to train well and arrive ready to lift.
